Abs are made in the kitchen not the gym! Of course regular exercise can help you lose weight and shed fat, but a diet rich in healthy foods and spices is what will really help you notice a change in your overall health and body. These area few of my favorites foods that just happen to have awesome health benefits too!
Cinnamon
I sprinkle cinnamon on everything! A little on my coffee, yogurt, oats, or even on a pork chop not only elevates the flavor and delicious smell, but also has added health benefits. Eating just a little bit a day can help regulate blood sugar levels, curb cravings, and boost metabolism.
Green Tea
Besides water, green tea is my favorite beverage. I enjoy it hot or cold and usually with a splash of lemon juice. Green tea not only helps hydrate you as you sip on it throughout the day, but can help to suppress your appetite and speed up your metabolism!
Broth Based Soups
Broth based soups are a healthy dieter's best friend. They are low fat and low calorie and also are super filling and tasty. When purchasing soup, also remember to find low sodium alternatives.
Salsa
A simple homemade (low salt, low oil) salsa is the perfect addition to most recipes and has little calories but packs a huge flavor punch. Try to eat salsa without the deep fried chips and go with either a baked option or even fresh veggie 'chips' instead!
Hummus
Paired with raw veggies over deep fried chips, hummus is a great, protein packed snack option. But why stop at just a snack? I like to use my hummus as a condiment on a veggie sandwich or as a topping in a salad.
Dark Chocolate
Indulging in a serving size of dark chocolate daily has been reported to help keep people from craving sweets.
Raw, Unsalted Nuts
Raw nuts, which release serotonin when eaten, help suppress your appetite and diminish stress levels (which we all know stress can lead to making poor food choices).
